The following fundamental themes, of interest to all participants, have been selected for the Congress 2008:

• HARMONIZATION OF CROATIA'S CONSTRUCTION-INDUSTRY REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS WITH THE EUROPEAN LEGISLATION
• CIVIL ENGINEERING AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

As a traditional meeting venue for Croatian Civil Engineers, this Congress will have on its agenda all issues relating to the development of Croatian construction industry and its influence on the overall development of Croatia. Besides the two above mentioned common themes, the following specific themes will also be considered and explored during this Congress:

• Overview of achievements made by construction industry operators in the period stretching from the first to the fifth Congress of Croatian Builders
• Economic situation in Croatian construction industry and the EU common market
• Oncoming development projects in construction industry
• Project management in construction industry
• Bologna process in university education - concept, achievements
• Bologna process in higher technical education (poly-technics) - concept, achievements
• Secondary vocational education in civil engineering - current situation
• Further training in civil engineering - concept, achievements

One or several reports may be prepared for any of the fundamental or specialty themes. Specialty reports relating to fundamental themes will also be welcome at the Congress. These reports will be classified by specialty:

• geotechnics
• construction heritage
• investments
• structures, materials
• construction management and technology
• transport facilities
• water management
• environmental protection
